WLAV Summertime Blues with Davy Knowles with Special guest James Reeser and the Backseat Drivers. What a great evening, the people, cars, vendors and of course the music.

Blues is a music genre and musical form which was originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1870s by African Americans from roots in African musical traditions, African-American work songs, and spirituals. Wikipedia
Some Hisotry on Blues on the Mall
Back in 2015, According to Local Spins, “The much-rumored relocation of the popular mid-week series to the parking lot outside the Walker arena and conference center comes after WLAV-FM executives determined the convenience and amenities of the DeltaPlex outweighed the restrictions and increased costs associated with staging blues concerts at Rosa Parks Circle.” Marcus Bradman, director of marketing and promotions at Cumulus Media, noted “Not only will there be “special designated areas for motorcycles” and beer stations at the new location, but WLAV will now have the flexibility to move the concerts indoors to the DeltaPlex in the event of stormy weather.”
About Davy Knowles
Davy Knowles brought his strong vocals and guitar playing to Grand Rapids, Michigan. According to Davy’s website, “The journey began for Davy Knowles growing up in the Isle of Man, learning to play guitar from listening to the likes of Gallagher, Clapton, Knopfler, Green and Mayall in his father’s record collection, and honing his skills playing the local music circuit.”
About James Reeser
James Reeser and the Backseat Drivers opened the show, you need to check them out. My only regret is not catching up with James at the show and doing an interview with him. Maybe our paths will cross in the future.
