Michigan Fourth of July Celebration
Michigan Fourth of July Celebration. Each year American’s come together to celebrate the Forth of July with fireworks, family fun and food.
According to Military dot com, “On July 4, 1776, the 13 colonies claimed their independence from England, an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States. Each year on the fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, Americans celebrate this historic event.”
In a episode of Welcome to my Basement, Doug, Bill, Mike and Duane pay tribute to our military vets with a song by VanZant entitled ‘These Colors Don’t Run”.
At the time of recording our sound engineer Dan Salas, his dad passed away. Duane had the honor of videotaping his dad’s graveside military service. With Dan’s permission we honor:
Bernardo Salas Jr. U.S. Army Corpl. – WWII – Ex POW 1942-1945 October 10, 1023 – June 12, 2018.
The chorus of These Colors Don’t Run hit a chord with producer Duane Weed:
“These colors don’t run, I hold them dear to my heart. With all of my might I stand up and fight for every star and every stripe. Yeah, I’m a proud supporter of the men and the women. Who risk their lives for our cause, let me tell you, son We’re still number one and these colors don’t run”
Van Zant is an American musical duo composed of brothers Donnie Van Zant and Johnny Van Zant. Both are brothers of the late Ronnie Van Zant, former lead singer for the Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Johnny became the lead vocalist for the reunited Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987, and Donnie was also the leader and vocalist of .38 Special. SOURCE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Zant
